Becoming A Church Multiplier

I was invited to walk through a run-down church building on Archer Avenue in Chicago. It was in rough shape with serious water issues and mold in the lower level. On the upper level, the ceiling was falling down in pieces in the sanctuary. It was quite a sorry sight! As I was walking through this building in great disrepair I heard the voice I’ve come to know so well, “Hal, can these bones live?” I laughed out loud and thought, “Pity the fool who has to renovate this building!”

Home Away From Home

While I was studying at Chicago Theological Seminary in 2011, I prayed two things to know God’s will for my future: first, to secure my status; and second, but not the least, to connect with an AG church. Making a long story short, God granted my prayers as I began a new journey of planting a church in the West suburban area in the fall of 2015 with a handful people.

"We Won't Let A Church Close."

When presented with the opportunity by the Illinois District Council, we knew immediately this must happen. We could not let a church close. In fact, God had began to prepare the way in advance. Calvary’s Flossmoor Campus had been reaching out along with the assistance of The Children’s Hunger Fund and Elim Christian Services to provide food and school supplies to several families in the community.
