Understanding Parent-affiliated churches

What is a PAC?

A Parent Affiliated Church (PAC) is an outreach of an existing General Council Affiliated Church or duly authorized District Council Affiliated Church resulting in a worshipping community with a congregational life distinct from a Parent Church (PC). A Parent Affiliated Church is subject to the ecclesial supervision and authority of a Parent Church, in such a manner, and upon such terms and conditions, as are determined by a Parent Church.

What is an Ethnic PAC?

An Ethnic PAC is simply a PAC with a specific focus on reaching a specific ethnic people group. Demographics of our communities, both in Chicagoland and throughout Illinois cities, show that certain neighborhoods and communities have conglomerate populations of people of specific ethnicities. Parent churches are able to discern interest initially through small groups toward a specific population, ie. Indian, Polish, Spanish, etc. Parent churches have the option to starting a specific language service as an extra service venue which can also become an Ethnic PAC. As the church grows the parent church has the option to keeping the Ethnic PAC as a part of their venue options or it can prepare it to become an autonomous, General Council affiliated church. The ethnic PAC while being a GC church can remain as a PAC to the Parent Church.
